Professor Takis Tridimas is a leading scholar in the field of European Union law. He is one of the most frequently quoted authors by Advocates General of the European Court of Justice and, on matters of EU law, by English courts.

Professor Tridimas holds the Chair of European Law at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London, and works as a barrister at Matrix Chambers. He was previously Sir John Lubbock Professor of Banking Law, and Head of the International Financial Law Unit, Queen Mary, University of London, and has acted as a référendaire (law clerk) to Advocate General Sir Francis Jacobs at the European Court of Justice. Professor Tridimas is also a Visiting Professor at the College of Europe in Brugge.

His research covers all aspects of EU law, including constitutional law, judicial protection, and the substantive law of the EU. He is the author of "The General Principles of EU Law", the leading monograph on the general principles of law as developed and applied by the European Court of Justice, whose third edition with Oxford University Press is scheduled for publication in 2021.
